The characters are lovable, Sephiroth is a great villain, gameply is great, but there are a few things that bother me in this game, the lighting of characters and npc's at times look generic, there are these unnecessary long hallways, at least 4 filler chapters in this game that are way too long.

On the scale of Final Fantasy games, Remake still soars. But this is a game full of beauty, intelligence and nostalgic power. It’s also, in a way, a significant meta text, but you’ll have to dive into that aspect on your own. So far, FFVIIR has successfully captured that initial feeling — now, I want to see the rest of the world. The reunion at hand may bring joy, it may bring fear, but let us embrace whatever it brings. Regardless of your history with the original game, Final Fantasy VII Remake is an astounding achievement. FFVII Remake has some rough edges, but is generally the ultimate nerdgasm for FFVII fans and a cool new Final Fantasy game for newcomers who have never played the original.

Gorgeous looking, beautifully told through well-written characters and their interactions, amazing combat, wonderful music - this game has it all. By honoring moments held sacred and defying what may be expected, Remake stays true to the radical and dangerous ambition that defined Final Fantasy VII. Remake is also the very best thing a game can be: fascinating. However, an overindulgence in cut scenes and an extremely linear path through the game causes some serious sag in the middle chapters. It will probably prompt a few newcomers to check out the original as well. It may not be the perfect remake that we've all been dreaming of these past five years, but it is a thoroughly enjoyable, nostalgia-driven ride that understands the magic of Final Fantasy VII.

After forty hours with the JRPG, I’m eager to go back to relive chapters of the game, finding collectibles and powerups I might have missed throughout my first playthrough.
