Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow covered mountain. I don't see those two things as mutually exclusive. However, you can take some comfort in just how predictable it is and that also seems to make it more enjoyable overall. This makes The Mountain Between Us feel like a "movie" rather than a "story," and so we just wait and wait for precious moments that will successfully entertain, few and far between they are.
