The Asantehene, Premph I, and his family, were deported out of Ashanti after 1896 by the British colonialist.In 1900, the British demanded that the Ashantis turned over the sacred golden stool of the Ashanti nation, which represented the "soul" of the people and their system of governance. America continued with the slave trade until the end of the Civil War, but whereas in 1789 San Domingo alone was taking forty thousand slaves a year, between 1808 and 1860 the southern states of North America took only two hundred thousand.
