Wonder Woman: The HiketeiaNovel by Greg Rucka

Things turn out right in the end, at least if this arc, and it WAS very well written. Despite some rumors, The Hiketeia is not about a battle royal between the Amazon and The Dark Knight, instead it is about the laws and duties of the Amazons and the Greeks and how they bind Wonder Woman even in the modern world.Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia by Greg Rucka is one of the few Wonder Woman story lines that I liked and no it actually has little to do with the appearance of Batman in it. Unfortunately her role diminishes later on in the story, but I'll touch on that a bit more later.Rucka spends a good amount of time looking at both major sheperes Wonder Woman occupieds, the first being the previously discussed political world and the send being the world of greek mythology. Death is better than Batman? And yet so many people do.

This whole arc (two rather thick TPBs) by Greg Rucka was a real chore to get through.

This series of trade paper backs brings those tales back into print with the first collection covering the original graphic novel The Hiketeia and #195-205 of the Wonder Woman series. I think Rucka does a great job merging Diana’s Greek Mythology side with the non-Mythology side.

Oh, and also Wonder Woman beats up Batman. This was different. Of course, I've never read it because I wasn't into DC at the time. Wish DC would hurry up and reprint the rest of this perfect run by Mr. Rucka.

Published I enjoyed both stories the same. When it comes to Wonder Woman I think I know/I've read the least amount of comics and I want to catch up.A DC classic - the tension between two opposing concepts of duty and justice is palpable. Instead Ares is much more clever and strategic, and often isn't as much of a villain as he's made out to be.Before I wrap things up and talk a bit about the last part of the series, I wanted to briefly discuss the book's art. Titled “Never Change,” it features a timeless encounter between Wonder Woman and two other characters who have been some of her biggest foes and best friends: Cheetah and Circe. And when finally you saw her onThere is something about Wonder Woman. WONDER WOMAN: THE HIKETEIA is a brilliantly orchestrated modern Greek tragedy of duty and vengeance.

Why couldn’t Rucka stay on the book for 10 years?Excellent follow up to volume 1. He's very consistent, and I think he does a fantastic job of portraying pretty much whatever he's asked to, especially when they're moments of emotion and wonder. Volume 1 was a great re-introduction to a fabulous character. I think I'm ready to give up on superhero comics again.A definitive run for anyone that wants to read the best story arcs for Wonder Woman. I thought the fight between the two was pretty badass and it contains one of my favourite Wonder Woman moments.

But I thoroughly enjoyed this two volume tale of Wonder Woman, her friends, her allies, and her enemies. I’ve loved every issue and both trades of it, I’d go so far as to say it’s the best Wonder Woman I’ve ever read.Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka is just good stuff. That is until the company's Rebirth presentation at that year's WonderCon where they announced that beloved Wonder Woman writer Greg Rucka would be returning to the title after seven years of not even working with the company. So quite often, we see Superman and Batman go head to head for whatever reason, but very rarely do we see Batman and Wonder Woman fight, this one being one of the few! Meanwhile his two sons, Bobby and Martin, add both levity and stakes at various points, serving almost as surrogate nephews for Diana.

Diana finds herself in a tricky situation with Batman on one side, the furies on another, and the life of a young girl in the balance. It succeeds and fails on both levels. Not bad, but a bit confusing at the beginning and not really long enough to actually drive home the point. The first volume of Greg Rucka's tremendous run on Wonder Woman including the amazing story Hiketeia. This is a very short book, but it's the kind of thing that sticks with you.I loved the run of Greg Rucka on the Rebirth series, but I just couldn't get into this one...I think the biggest criticism I have of this book, is that it's too short to really do itself justice.

the art was pretty decent. Throughout this series, I appreciate the heavy mythology intertwined--it's heavier than in the Rebirth series, and the way it's done here I like more than in the New 52. And like with Luthor this leads to it's share of great moments, and complex scheming that is easily one of the book's major highlights.
