The movie follows the perspective of several characters (such as Japanese victims, soldiers, American prisoners of war and others) and how they lived or tried to survive the effects felt during the aftermath of the Atomic Bomb dropping by the Enola Gay at Hiroshima, during World War II. This film gives a very good description of what it might have been to be in a city a see it being completely destroyed. I can't say for sure but it does show what the bomb did to the characters it focused on and makes me wonder.....is war really worth it? I don't think the makers of this film researched period photos or they would have not depicted people with neatly combed hair. The bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, was not provoked! I have seen the films taken of Hiroshima beginning just moments after the blast and I couldn't help comparing the people in these films and photos with their wildly ratted hair and shredded clothing with the actors in this film. It was hard enough for ME to see it! It shows how much the Japanese people suffered, and yes, this was a terrible tragedy as the 100,000 people who died, were mostly innocent people who didn't deserve to suffer. Granted it's not for the squeamish or faint of heart, but if you want to see an accurate depiction of what really happened when the A Bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I don't believe there's another movie out there which can even come slightly close to matching this. What is truly tragic, is that it's the politicians who create the wars, but it's mostly innocent people, on both sides, who suffer. A reminder that this should never happen again. I have seen many documentaries and dramas regarding the atomic bombing of Japan in 1945. A story which changed the course of the country's history. A pilot survives thanks to a Chinese woman's help. There were a lot of innocent people who were injured or died.
