I'm not a huge fan of the artwork but it isn't bad. We all have our reading bucket lists. And even though she deems herself “not a political person,” she shares frank thoughts about the 2016 election. Bechdel returns to it over and again, approaching not just as the mortician (relevant to the fun eral home atmosphere) but as coroner and detective as well. The results are painfully honest, occasionally funny and penetratingly insightful. To say when these events take place would be the spoiler, in this story more than the fact of those admissions. It’s by Alison Bechdel and I hadn’t initially realised I knew her name from the Bechdel test.
The intent is always to make print as compelling as the pictorials they are made to convey.
